Mr. G. B. Sundararajan
Mr G.B. Sundararajan, the Director of Suguna Foods Pvt. Ltd, started the poultry business with an initial investment of ₹5000 in his village town Udumalpet near Coimbatore in 1982. After an initial stint, he established a poultry farm with 200 broiler birds in 1984. Further, he fostered the startup of Suguna Agencies, a retail store for eggs, poultry health care, and feeds.
He joined hands with his brother Mr B. Soundararajan and integrated the business operations under the banner of Suguna Poultry Farm Private Limited in 1994. This helped the brothers manage the production and sales of broiler chicken and eggs.
Together, the entrepreneur-brothers came up with the conceptualization of ‘Contract Farming’ that enabled the firm to collaborate with the poultry farmers, who had the infrastructure facilities to raise the birds.
Through integrity and caring relationships, the company was winning the trust of the farmers’. Suguna was growing into many folds, becoming a world-class poultry enterprise with an annual turnover of ₹10750 Crores.
He is a patron of technology and innovation. He uses International standards and facilities as benchmarks to bring in technological advancements to improve Suguna’s infrastructure and operations in India. He is keen on functioning active R&D to meet future growth demands.
India’s largest and fully automated feed mill in Hoskote, Karnataka, and India’s most advanced and environmentally-controlled commercial broiler shed at Madurai are examples of Suguna’s progressive approach to adopting advanced technologies.
